Hefei, situated between the Yangtze and Huaihe Rivers, near the
Chaohu Lake to its south, is an ancient city with a history of
more than 2000 years. Today it is the capital of Anhui province,
the provincial center of politics, economy, culture,
information, finance, commerce and trade.
There are three counties (Feidong, Feixi, and Changfeng) and
four districts (East, Central, West and Suburbs) under the
jurisdiction of the city. Its total area is 72668 square
kilometers, among which 596 square kilometers are in the city
limits (including the Suburbs District).
In 2006, the gross product of Hefei City (being called GDP for
short, the following is identical) exceeds 100 billion yuan for
the first time, and so the target "thousand hundred million yuan
" came true advancing for 4 years. According to the first
calculates, 107.386 billion yuan of GDP has been realized all
year around, increases by 17.5% compared with the same period of
the last year. Among it the primary industry 6.176 billion yuan
of GDP has been realized, increases by 7.7%compared with the
same period of the last year.Secondary industry increases 51.059
billion yuan. By 22.7%.Tertiary industry increases 50.151
billion yuan of GDP, by 13.7%. Per capita GDP breaks 20,000 yuan,
according to register census population calculates it reaches
23,200 yuan, according to the going rate, per capita GDP
approaches 3000 U. S. dollar.
